The F8X M3 and M4 are the first generation of M cars that received Brembo multi-piston calipers front and rear. The E9X M3 on the other hand did not receive such treatment. The good news is the brake components from the F8X generation of M cars can be retrofitted onto the E9X M3 with relative ease. As part of the retrofit, you will require front kingpin/knuckles from an F8X M car. Firstly, this is a plug-and-play two-axle kit that costs less than most one-axle big brake kits. Secondly, because this kit uses OEM components it is easy to find replacement parts including brake rotors, brake pads, and other service items.

Performance: The F8X generation of M cars are lighter than the E9X M3 but have larger brakes. You could argue this was for marketing purposes but in reality, fixed-mounted calipers generally perform better. Firstly, they promote better caliper-to-disc alignment. Fixed-position calipers also offer a better pedal feel. The P4.40 and P2.44 calipers are also top-loading which allows for easy pad swaps when needed.

Visual: The larger 380/370mm brake rotors and Brembo calipers look OEM on the E9X M3. After all, they are OEM parts. But because they are OEM parts they don't look out of place either. This is the definition of an OEM+ upgrade.

This kit includes Brembo Xtra calipers. These are the same as the M Performance calipers that you would traditionally only be able to get from BMW with the M logo. These calipers are sold in Black, Yellow, and Silver colors and feature the Brembo logo. These are arguably a cleaner look behind the wheel compared to the stock M Performance BMW colors. Using new calipers instead of used ones also provides a safety factor as you know the condition of these calipers and their functionality as new calipers vs used ones.

This kit contains:

  • 2x Brembo X-Style 4 Pot Front Calipers
  • 2x Brembo X-Style 2 Pot Rear Calipers
  • 2x 380x30mm Front Discs
  • 2x 370x24mm Rear Discs
  • 2x BMW F8x Front Hub Carriers
  • 2x BMW Front Brake Dust Shields
  • 2x BMW F8x Front ABS Sensors + Connectors
  • BMW Brake Pad Wear Sensors
  • FCP Euro Rear Adapter Kit
  • Associated BMW Hardware

Included in this kit are the appropriate caliper spacers for the rear calipers, along with enlarged and integrated brake dust shields. You will also need to slightly bend/trim the parking brake carrier shields and ensure that the brake rotor does not touch the backing plate for the parking brake shoes.

This kit does not include brake pads. Because of the wide array of pad options for F8x brake calipers we wanted to leave the choice open to customers based on their preferences.

You will also need to potentially adjust your front ride height slightly due to the F8X knuckles and an alignment will be required after installation of this kit.

E9X M3 ratio/bias: 1.75:1 or 63.6/36.4
F8X ratio/bias: 1.69:1 or about 62.9/37.1

PLEASE READ - Installation Notes: This kit includes F8X wheel speed sensors and the correct connector for the chassis side harness to properly set up your front wheel speed sensors on the F8X knuckles. Some have used other mounting methods to set the stock wheel speed sensor into place correctly. However, swapping the chassis connector and using the F8X wheel speed sensor is the cleanest option.
